         Bluffs, Rivers, And Valleys Event

A Bicycle Ride through the Driftless Landscapes

 of Crawford County, Wisconsin

Saturday, September 20

Hosted by the Communities of Gays Mills and Eastman

General Information

Thank you for considering the Kickapoo BRAVE (Bluffs, Rivers And Valleys Event) Ride, starting in Gays Mills, Wisconsin on September 20.  Gays Mills is located along the Kickapoo River in Southwest Wisconsin, in the heart of the scenic Kickapoo Valley.  The ride will start at 9 am from the Crawford County Fair Grounds, located just south of town at 17725 State Highway 131.  Registration sign-in will begin at 7 am, where registrants will be given t-shirts, dinner tickets, and gift bag.  A brief welcome/ orientation meeting will take place at 8:45.  There will be a mass start at 9 am, so please be on time.

Daycare

This will be a family-friendly event.  The 4-H Junior Leaders will provide daycare for children ages 2 through 8 at the fairgrounds.  Please indicate on your registration if you need daycare services.

Routes

You will have a choice of routes, including 20, 45, 55, and 80 miles, all beginning and ending in Gays Mills.  The shorter rides will stay closer to the river valley, while the longer rides will explore the scenery and communities along the ridge.  Ninety-five percent of the rural roads are paved, but there are short stretches of gravel roads – chosen for their character of scenery – that will be monitored for condition.  For a detailed map of each ride, please go to:

Dinner/ Dance

Included in your registration fee is a Saturday night celebratory dinner in Eastman, one of our host communities on the ridge.  The dinner will be from 6 pm – 8 pm at St. Wenceslaus Church at the south end of Eastman on Highway 27.  The dinner will feature locally-sourced ingredients, including chicken breasts with cherry tomatoes and goat cheese (or a vegetarian choice of pasta with cherry tomatoes and goat cheese), roasted herbed red potatoes, fresh mesclun salad, bread, and selection of cheeses.  Desert will feature berries and ice cream.  The country-rock band, “The Wayne Brothers,” will play from 7 pm till 10 pm for your listening and dancing pleasure.

To order dinner tickets only at $12 per person (no charge for ages 4 and under), please email: info@crawfordcountywi.com
