Driftless Area Valley The Driftless Area is a unique region that was left untouched by the glaciers that drifted south during the last Ice Age.  The unusual name refers to the steep hills and valleys found in much of southwestern Wisconsin, plus bordering areas in southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa, and northwest Illinois.  The beauty of these forested hills, meandering creeks, and mist-shrouded valleys is an inspirational setting for artists working in many types of media.

There are dozens--maybe hundreds--of talented artists living, creating, and working in the Driftless Area.

Each month, we will add a profile of one regional artist.  Plan to return to this site on a regular basis to meet our artists and see their exceptional work.

Better yet, visit them personally.
